General Purpose Rating (G.P. Rating)candidates perform tasks related to Seamanship, Cargo handling, Maintenance work on deck, Operation and maintenance of Machinery.
The unit integrates Watchkeeping theory and practical application and problem solving exercises involving the use of the Integrated Marine Simulator. Students will also develop skills and knowledge to carry out watchkeeping procedures, respond to potential collision and emergency situations, IALA Buoyage System, maintain and accurate record in the vessels log, and Bridge Resource Management. Students will also have the knowledge of basic manoeuvring and ship handling principles.
